Ipswich Hospital Museum Volunteers and Members

Jane Kingston

Volunteer at the Ipswich Hospital Museum since 2017. Retired Registered Nurse specialising in Critical Care and Nurse Education.
My connection to Ipswich Hospital dates to the very early 1970s when I worked in the Pathology Department for several months before I started my training at a hospital in Brisbane.
Special interests in research and history.

Elizabeth Mcnalty

I am a retired registered nurse and worked in the Operating Theatres at Ipswich Hospital for 39 years. During those years I collected and hoarded items that had a history and providence to Ipswich. These I stored in a cupboard and an old instrument cabinet behind "the Red Line.” As the hospital was redeveloped and buildings demolished over the decades staff interested in preserving history brought items that they thought were of value to the Theatre. So..out of that cupboard came the Ipswich Hospital Museum in the historical Jubilee Building.

As a volunteer i work with a dedicated team committed to keeping the history of the Ipswich Hospital alive for all the Community.

Ruth Jorgensen

I worked at the Ipswich Hospital from 1989 – firstly in administration and then from 1994 as an Information Technology Training Officer.  In early 2000 I moved to the corporate statewide team, based in Brisbane, as an Application Specialist for the patient data system being used at the time.  After retiring I was asked to join the new hospital volunteer team and then in 2018 became a part of the ‘museum crew’.  Our team is dedicated to preserving the history of Ipswich Hospital in all aspects – from the people, the buildings and the events that have shaped it and its place in the community.  My main role in the museum team is compiling the quarterly newsletter, Museum Matters, and helping where needed with other tasks.
